Towards the end of last year I was asked to work on a new project with Zatchels. They had secured the exclusive UK licensing rights to produce bags and satchels for Hello Kitty.

Created by Yuko Shimizu for Sanrio in Japan in 1974 Hello Kitty has become an iconic brand. Don’t be fooled into thinking it is a phenomenon favoured by young girls. Oh no! From 8 – 80 girls (and boys) covet and collect all things Kitty.

Zatchels have produced four designs applied to satchels, barrel and saddle bags. The artwork project also included bespoke swingtags, woven labels and dustbags. I must confess that I was a little tired of seeing Kitty’s face by the end of my involvement, the licensing regulations were very strict. But now I kind of like her. I’ve even got a Ty Beanie one for my office!!

The printed bags look fantastic and have had a great reception. They were launched at a VIP party in London on 8th November 2012. A promotional video of the event can be seen here, courtesy of Zatchels.

More photographs of the range can be seen on my Facebook page. Or, if you want to buy one please click through to the Zatchels website – tell them I sent you!
